'Dragon Quest VII': El RPG más jugado ahora mismo en Japón
Hoy os voy a hablar de uno de los juegos de rol más populares de todos los tiempos en Japón. Ya que, ahora mismo, su nuevo Remake está en las listas como el RPG más jugado.
Os hablo de nada menos que 'Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden', el remake del juego de PlayStation para Nintendo 3DS.
La saga Dragon Quest es tan tremendamente popular en Japón que parece más una devoción que una simple afición.
En realidad, el original de 'Dragon Quest VII' fue publicado en el año 2000 para Playstation y se vendieron algo más de 4,1 millones de copias!
Tras aquel éxito, se ha vuelto a rehacer el juego, pero en esta ocasión para Nintendo 3DS, que como ya os dije, es una de las consolas que más se utilizan fuera y dentro de casa en Japón.
El juego se ha presentado con increíbles mejoras y finalmente ha salido al mercado después de 13 años. Pero la espera ha merecido la pena, ya que en la primera semana de lanzamiento vendió más de 1 millón de copias.
Este resultado demuestra la gran popularidad del juego en mi país.
La historia de 'Dragon Quest VII' comienza contándonos que sólo hay una isla en el mundo y toda la gente cree que es la única, sin embargo, un día el padre del protagonista trae a casa el fragmento de un mapa. Este mapa sugiere al protagonista y a su amigo que el mundo tenía, en algún momento pasado, muchos continentes, aunque ahora sólo existe la pequeña isla de Estard. Ambos encuentran una manera de viajar de regreso al pasado, cuando los continentes aún existían. Así es que se disponen a embarcarse en una gran aventura para conseguir recoger las tablas-mapas de piedra y averiguar qué es lo que realmente ha sucedido en el pasado.
En definitiva, en 'Dragon Quest VII' el juego sigue al héroe y sus amigos mientras descubren secretos sobre las misteriosas islas que rodean su casa de Estard. A través de unas antiguas ruinas, son transportados a los pasados de varias islas y deben vencer el mal en cada nuevo lugar. La mecánica del juego es prácticamente igual al de los anteriores de la saga aunque, ahora, un extenso sistema de clases permite a los jugadores personalizar más a sus personajes.
Características de 'Dragon Quest VII'
El sistema de batalla de 'Dragon Quest VII' ha optado por el estilo de comandos tradicional (Tenemos que seleccionar la próxima acción en el menú emergente) y así, los jugadores pueden continuar su aventura a lo largo de las varias líneas de la historia.
Puede parecer que no hay demasiada libertad para jugar y se nos antoja en un primer vistazo hasta un poco aburrido, pero ¡Nada más lejos de la realidad! La mayoría de los jugadores parecen disfrutar de este buen viejo RPJG!!
A esto contribuye también que hay un importante número de episodios con muy diversos personajes para mantener a los jugadores atentos y no caer en el hastío.
Además, los aficionados japoneses del nuevo 'Dragon Quest VII' pueden desbloquear "El misterio del mundo" y llegar a sentirse como si fueran héroes reales en el juego. Creo que esta es una de las razones más importantes por las que ahora tiene tanto éxito: ¡Todos queremos ser héroes!
Pero, en serio...
¿Por qué esta locura ahora con 'Dragon Quest VII', 13 años después?
Muy sencillo. La primera edición para PlayStation de 'Dragon Quest VII' fue importantísima, ya que fue el primer juego de la serie numerada en abandonar el cartucho para aparecer en CD. El nuevo soporte provocó automáticamente que los creadores tuvieran que romperse la cabeza pensando cómo iban a llenar todo el espacio que suponía el nuevo formato.
Esto, que aparentemente no debería tener tanta importancia, fue absolutamente vital en el desarrollo de esta saga y en cómo cambió la percepción de los RPJG y tal vez sea el motivo principal por el que ha sido y será uno de los juegos más jugados nunca dentro de este género...y es que una de las cosas que más sorprendía de 'Dragon Quest VII' era que el primer combate llegaba después de varias horas de juego. Unas primeras horas en las que no había que hacer nada más que seguir la historia y resolver puzles y esto... ¡Esto era maravilloso!
Pero los jugadores de hace 13 años y los de ahora han cambiado mucho, por eso, el juego también ha cambiado. Esto no quiere decir que sea muy facilón y haya perdido todo el interés, si no, que tanto el formato como el contexto ha cambiado. La premisa que siempre utilizaron los creadores de “divertirse mientras te pierdes” se sigue manteniendo en el remake, pero con algunas diferencias.
Los cambios más importantes que podemos encontrar:
- La historia y los diseños son similares, pero están organizados de forma un poco distinta al original.
- Más pequeñas historias conclusivas y un diario que guarda toda la historia que el jugador ha visto ya.
- Mediante el StreetPass podremos intercambiar población y mandar monstruos a explorar.
- El sistema de clases también ha sufrido un cambio importante. Ahora ya no se pueden utilizar las habilidades anteriores aprendidas por nuestro personaje.
- Además, las características propias de 3DS (conexión portátil y WIFI) proveen a los jugadores de un absolutamente renovado estilo de juego.
Para mi, una de las más reseñables mejoras de la versión de 'Dragon Quest VII' para 3DS es la OST (Banda sonora original). Toda la Banda sonora del juego ha sido realizada por la Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. ¡La música de fondo es tan hermosa! Personalmente, recomiendo el uso de los mejores auriculares para escuchar esta gran OST.
Y como postre, os dejo una curiosidad, que a mí me ha llamado un poco la atención.
En el nuevo 'Dragon Quest VII' los jugadores pueden comerciar y descargar las tablas de piedra (mapas de juego adicionales) a través de la conexión Wi-Fi.
Todos los días que paso frente a una de las grandes tiendas de electrónica cerca de la estación de Akihabara, en Tokyo. Siempre veo que hay un montón de gente ¡que está jugando al juego allí mismo!
Y juegan aquí porque disfrutan intercambiando sus datos del juego entre sí y también, de paso, se descargan los mapas de juego nuevos que va lanzando Square Enix.
¡¡Esto sólo pasa en Japón!!
Así es que, aún cuando ya tenemos claro en qué consiste el juego, ¡Todavía tenemos muchísimas cosas por hacer! (Subir niveles, completar todas las "misiones",
recoger las tablas de piedra y jugar varios mini-juegos cumpliendo pequeñas misiones.)
Me pregunto cuántas personas estarán despiertas esta noche en Japón hasta muy tarde jugando a 'Dragon Quest VII'?
