Está claro, nada más comenzar, que Yoshi's New Island no es un juego demasiado difícil. Su dinámica es continuista con los plataformas de la gran N. No defrauda en cuanto a control, que podremos adaptar al tradicional de Super Nes o con los botones invertidos. Lo que está claro es que mejora por momentos, cuando Yoshi adopta forma de globo, perforadora, helicóptero etc. En ese preciso instante, nos olvidamos de la cruceta o del circle pad para dar paso a los giroscopios de la consola, pudiendo apoyarnos tan solo con saltos o deceleraciones controladas por un par de botones.
