Iwata insiste en la necesidad de lanzar más juegos para Wii U
El presidente de Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, ha realizado una entrevista para un medio japonés en el que deja claro que el objetivo principal de la compañía con Wii U para los próximos meses, será el de ampliar generosamente el catálogo actual que tiene la consola.
En más de una ocasión hemos criticado a Nintendo por la escasez de títulos que ha habido para Wii U desde el lanzamiento de la máquina, y aunque a Iwata le costó en un principio reconocerlo, finalmente se ha dado cuenta (el y el resto de directivos) de que necesitan urgentemente más lanzamientos.
Mi compañero Luis Garrido os comentaba hace pocos días los malos resultados conseguidos por Nintendo durante el primer trimestre fiscal. La compañía tan solo conseguía vender en todo el mundo 160.000 unidades de Wii U, de las cuales apenas 10.000 unidades iban a parar a Europa. Unas cifras bastante lamentables comparadas con lo que habitualmente suelen conseguir.

“Es difícil decir que Wii U es un sistema que hace todo de una manera simple, y entenderlo lleva su tiempo. A pesar de que el primer semestre de 2013 ha sido un desastre, con muy pocos lanzamientos y unas bajas ventas del hardware, no creo que el concepto y el potencial de la Wii U haya sido rechazado.”
“Los desarrolladores de Nintendo son extremadamente insaciables cuando se trata de hacer que algo llame la atención entre los consumidores. No es que estemos haciendo obras de arte, el objetivo es hacer un producto que destaque y sea aceptado por los clientes.”
A pesar de los malos resultados conseguidos este trimestre, Iwata está convencido de que el catálogo que la compañía está preparando para los próximos años servirá para aumentar notablemente las ventas de la consola, además de ayudar en el resultado final del año.
