Nintendo acumula pérdidas operativas por segundo año consecutivo
Parece que las cosas no marchan bien por la compañía de Satoru Iwata. Nintendo ha publicado el estado de cuentas de la empresa correspondiente al periodo fiscal -que acaba de cerrar en Estado Unidos el día 31 de marzo-, y los números no podían ser más desoladores: la gran N registra pérdidas operativas por segundo año consecutivo, y no se alcanzan los objetivos de beneficio.
Es como para preocuparse. La firma ha reportado un beneficio neto de 7.100 millones de yenes (55 millones de euros) este año fiscal, una cantidad claramente insuficiente puesto que el objetivo de beneficio estimado para este periodo era de aproximadamente el doble.
Las ventas descienden un 1,9 por ciento interanual, hasta los 0,63 billones de yenes (casi 5.000 millones de euros), mientras que la compañía publica pérdidas operativas de 36.400 billones (282 millones de euros), en la línea -descendente- de los resultados que registró ya el año pasado.
Nintendo parece estar en serios problemas. Las ventas de Wii U han estado muy por debajo de lo esperado, y este dispositivo pasaba por ser el buque insignia de la compañía y el que deparara los mayores ingresos a la firma. Pero el fracaso de la consola sobremesa no es la única mala noticia para los de Iwata, ya que 3DS tampoco ha estado a la altura. Así las cosas, con las dos principales plataformas por debajo de los números que debían estar registrando, es evidente que las cuentas no podían cuadrar.

Dicen que la esperanza es lo último que se pierde, y a Nintendo no le queda otra. Van a poner toda la carne en el asador para levantar estos dos últimos ejercicios, y se han impuesto un reto considerable para este 2014: alcanzar unas ventas de 0,92 billones de yenes (más de 7.000 millones de euros), un beneficio operativo de 0,1 billones (770 millones de euros), y vender nueve millones de unidades Wii U, otros 18 millones de 3DS; 38 millones de juegos Wii U y 80 millones más para 3DS.
