‘World of Warcraft’ pierde 1.3 millones de subscriptores
Activision Blizzard ha publicado los resultados financieros del primer trimestre de 2013 y la compañía ha obtenido unos datos que superan a los de 2012. En esta primera parte del año se han obtenido unos ingresos netos de 1320 millones de dólares en comparación con los 1170 millones conseguidos durante el mismo periodo del año pasado, aunque no todo son buenas noticias ya que ‘World of Warcraft’ no ha salido muy bien parado…
Entre los datos que ha mostrado la compañía, podemos comprobar la bajada de subscriptores que ha sufrido el MMO que todavía hoy, mantiene el liderazgo en su género después de casi 9 años en el mercado. ‘World of Warcraft’ ha perdido este año 1.3 millones de usuarios quedándose con tan solo 8.3 millones de jugadores.
‘World of Warcraft’ ha llegado a tener más de 12 millones de subscriptores
Los dos títulos que han conseguido los mejores resultados han sido ‘Skylander Giants’ y ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’. La franquicia ‘Skylanders’ es todo un éxito y hasta que aparezcan los primeros competidores en el mercado, todavía puede suponerle a la compañía una buena fuente de ingresos. ‘Skylander Giants’ es el juego que más dinero le ha reportado este trimestre a Activision Blizzard mientras que ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’ mantiene la segunda posición.
Otro de los títulos que mejor ha terminado el trimestre es ‘Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm’. El juego se ha convertido en el título de la compañía más vendido para PC, consiguiendo colocar 1.1 millones de copias en todo el mundo, teniendo en cuenta las ventas en formato físico y digital.
A pesar de haber obtenido estos resultados, la compañía ha declarado que prefiere ser cautelosa y no cometer ningún riesgo innecesario. Estando además ‘Titan’ en desarrollo como futuro sucesor de ‘World of Warcraft’, no parece que estén muy preocupados con la pérdida de usuarios que ha tenido el juego. Habrá que esperar un poco todavía para ver que nos tienen preparado para este año.
