Sony restringe PSN a los surcoreanos menores de 18
En los últimos tiempos, varios países asiáticos han restringido el acceso a determinados servicios online de la industria de los videojuegos. Corea del Sur prohibió hace cosa de un año que los menores de 16 años pudieran conectarse a las plataformas online en horario nocturno, lo que ocasionó el cierre de PSN para adaptarse a la nueva ley. El 16 de mayo volverá a estar operativa, pero no permitirá el acceso a los jóvenes de menos de 18.
Sony ha optado por imponer una restricción todavía más exigente que el propio gobierno surcoreano. En julio del pasado año, entró en vigor la Ley del Apagón, que obligaba a los proveedores de servicios a impedir que los menores de 16 años pudieran acceder a las plataformas online durante las seis horas nocturnas.
Microsoft acusó notablemente la prohibición, registrando un importante bajón de usuarios, pero eso no es nada en comparación con el impacto que supuso para la compañía nipona. Sony tuvo que cerrar temporalmente PlayStation Network para poder cumplir con la nueva legislación.

Por razones que se desconocen, la multinacional no pudo reabrir la plataforma hasta ahora. Esta misma semana Sony anunció que PSN volvería por fin a estar operativa en el país asiático. Aquellos que tenían una cuenta Sony Entertainment Network antes de la suspensión podrán recuperar sus privilegios e incluso disfrutar de un mes extra de suscripción a PlayStation Plus a partir del día 16 de mayo.
Sin embargo, la compañía ha añadido una restricción adicional a la plataforma: los menores de 18 años no podrán tener una cuenta. La firma se justifica aduciendo que no consiguieron implementar un sistema que permitiera limitar el tiempo de juego de los jóvenes compatible con la verificación de control parental.
Sin duda, una mala noticia para los chavales surcoreanos. Y más que probablemente también para la compañía. Esto no va a beneficiar en absoluto sus intereses en el continente asiático.
