La misma fuente, que desea mantenerse en el anonimato pese a estar dentro del núcleo duro de Sega, afirma que "'Shenmue HD' es una realidad y lo lleva siendo desde hace alrededor de un año".
Lo mejor del caso es el por qué Sega aún no ha querido lanzar ambos juegos, que son de los más esperados tanto en Playstation Network como en Xbox Live Arcade. La misma fuente filtra que Sega se está planteando muy seriamente qué hacer con la saga. Ya sea retomar el hilo de 'Shenmue' y preparar 'Shenmue III' o algo relacionado con el universo creado para Ryo Hazuki.
Por otro lado, la misma Sega había dejado caer la misma pasada semana que "podía estar trabajando" en una remasterización en HD de 'Shenmue'. Y también afirmó poder estar preparando el el colorista RPG 'Skies of Arcadia', tal y como se dijo en una entrevista con el director de marca de Sega, Ben Harborne. Él mismo manifestó que tenía constancia de que en ambas plataformas digitales había un buen grupo de fans con ganas de ver un remake de dichos títulos en alta definición. "No puedo deciros qué es lo que va a salir, pero será algo con 'Shenmue' y con 'Skies of Arcadia' también", manifestó.
"Son un par de los juegos más reclamados. Y no puedo decir 'sí' o 'no', pero podríamos estar trabajando en ellos."
